Pancreatic Cancer and Wedge Pillow
« on: August 03, 2010, 12:33:43 AM »

Wedge pillows can bring comfort to a pancreatic cancer patient. When my friend had pancreatic cancer she could not get comfortable on her back or stomach. The hospital gave her a wedge pillow during treatments to keep her on her side. This was the most comfortable position for her. After treatments they took the pillow away and we had to use a rolled up blanket or pillow to keep her on her side. We could not find the right size wedge pillow for her. Life Solutions has 3 three different wedge pillow sizes available. One of the pillows might help them stay in that position and give some relief to a patient who can only lay on their side.

Making a sick patient comfortable is very important.  When my sister was in the hospital getting her gall bladder, we went to a lot of trouble to make her comfortable.  We got her a very expensive body pillow and some egyptian cotton sheets.  I don't know if it helps from a healing angle, but she seems much more comfortable with such comforts. Her facebook statuses have been much happier lately.
